Ysgol Hen Felin

Complex Needs/Sensory

At Ysgol Hen Felin, we recognise that each child is unique with different needs and we aim to provide a personal approach to each child's learning. The curriculum for pupils with profound learning difficulties is driven by the identification of individual personal targets. Elements of the Foundation Phase and National Curriculum provide a rich context within which to develop these fundamental skills and aid understanding. We use a range of technology to assist our pupils reaching key milestones and concepts such as computer programmes developing cause and effect.

We have many specialist facilities and therapies which our pupils benefit from including a Hydrotherapy Pool, sensory room, rebound therapy, and wheelchair accessible swing.

At Ysgol Hen Felin, we aim to meet the diverse needs of this group with the help and support of partner agencies such as, nursing, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, sensory support services, speech and language therapy and psychology. The mode of working adopted by the school is interdisciplinary, where all services involved with individual pupils meet to discuss how to meet pupils needs.
