At Ysgol Hen Felin, our curriculum is carefully designed to ensure that every pupil can access meaningful, engaging, and appropriately challenging learning experiences. Teaching and learning are highly differentiated to meet the diverse needs, strengths, and aspirations of each individual, with a strong focus on personal priorities and developmental goals.
Our curriculum is delivered through a comprehensive framework of long-term, medium-term, and short-term planning, ensuring continuity, progression, and consistency throughout each phase of learning. This structured approach enables pupils to build upon prior learning, develop key skills, and achieve their individual potential.
In line with the Curriculum for Wales, we have developed a broad, balanced, and relevant curriculum that reflects the unique needs of our learners. Within our 14-19 Department, pupils have access to a range of accredited qualifications and personalised pathway programmes, preparing them for adulthood, lifelong learning, employment, and greater independence.
A consistent and supportive learning environment is central to our curriculum delivery. Familiar daily routines, clear expectations, and a nurturing approach to learning and behaviour management help pupils feel safe, confident, and ready to engage. These structures provide the stability and predictability many of our learners require to flourish academically, socially, and emotionally.
Through our personalised approach, we strive to ensure that every pupil experiences success, develops confidence, and is equipped with the skills needed to thrive both within school and beyond.
