Mathematics is a core area of the National Curriculum and plays a vital role in the everyday life of both children and adults.
Here at Hen Felin, we aim to build a stimulating mathematical environment to encourage pupils to develop their skills, concepts and knowledge which will enable them to experience and take part in practical applications and real life situations.
Our Mathematics' curriculum utilises a variety of schemes and resources throughout the range of key stages, with each building upon previously acquired skills. Specific mathematical skills are taught in focused, differentiated sessions and then transferred and reinforced within a range of cross curricular contexts.
Teachers use their skills and expertise to identify the appropriate level of mathematics for each individual pupil. This ensures that all pupils are provided with adequate experiences and opportunities which allow them to achieve their full potential.
We also provide 'real life' maths experiences which include paying and ordering everyday things in shops in our local area.
